Jacob’s family is the nation of Israel, while Jacob’s brother becomes an enemy nation. The brother is Esau and the nation is Edom. (Edom is Esau’s other name.)
To a modern Christian, the Old Testament is 39 books in five sections. But to a Jew, the Hebrew Scriptures are 24 books in three sections called the Tanakh (or TaNaK, which I prefer). It’s still the same words, it’s just that the books are grouped differently.
Job is a devout believer who is tested by God. He loses and regains everything, but the bulk of the book (38 of 42 chapters) is conversations with Job and others.
